Flooring
The reclaimed wood flooring that Millwood offers is most of the time newly milled from old beams. It comes in 4", 6", 8", 10" and 12" widths and is 5/8 " or 3/4" thick tongue and groove. Most floors come in 'mixed grain', (link to log & timber milling). The nice thing about a solid wood floor as opposed to a 'laminate' floor is that it can be sanded down after time and be like new again. When we come into reclaimed flooring that was flooring in it's previous life, it can be be remilled and planed or left with it's original patina.
| Look at the picture to your right, it is a Doug Fir 1" x 6" floor. Even though Doug Fir is considered a 'soft wood', it is very durable and with a hardening finish on top, becomes a strong and noble floor that will last lifetimes. Color stain can be applied to match your interior. | ![]() |

The picture to your left shows a 1" x 4" Juniper floor. Juniper is not a reclaimed wood, it is a Cedar derivative that grows in high desert areas. It is a very slow grower and the wood is oily and tough. The Juniper tree has beautiful color markings of red and yellow flames. |
Any time you order a floor from Millwood, allow it to sit in the space for 2 weeks before installing. Remember wood is a 'live' material and expands and contracts with climatic changes of temperature and moisture. After installation, sand and apply any color of stain you like. For protection, a gel like hard wax (Osmo) can be applied that will prevent minor scratches. If in the future damage happens to your floor, it can be repaired without affecting the rest of the floor. It can be sanded, patched and waxed again and blend without a trace. Floors can be shipped anywhere in the United States, all we need for shipping quotes is your zipcode.
